The programme had been continued on the basis of the "bricks" put in the previous year as regards the eight Expert Teams and the Advisory Committee. The Expert Team workplans were put on the SRNWP webpage (srnwp.met.hu) and the intensive email exchanges had been continued within the members of the Advisory Committee. The first preparations towards the annual EWGLAM/SRNWP meeting had been also started (to be organised in Greece at the very end of September). The invoices for the 2009 contribution fees had been submitted and the contracts for the two new members (Bulgaria and Czech Republic) were prepared and exchanged.
The main activity of the C-SRNWP programme is the coordination between the five LAM Consortia in Europe (ALADIN, COSMO, HIRLAM, LACE and Met Office). The coordination is ensured by the eight Expert Teams (data assimilation and use of observations; diagnostics, validation and verification; dynamics and lateral boundary coupling; link with applications; physical parameterization: upper air; predictability and EPS; surface and soil processes: model and data assimilation; system aspects) established last year and through the regular correspondence between the members of the SRNWP Advisory Committee. Beside that two SRNWP-related programmes are ongoing: SRNWP-I (Interoperability) and SRNWP-V (Verification).
The Expert Teams continued their activities based on their respective workplans (which are available at the srnwp.met.hu webpage of the SRNWP programme). Some changes were proposed and accepted in the Expert Team memberships.
The SRNWP Advisory Committee kept contacts through emails. The Advisory Committee meting to be held in Zurich (2-3 April) was prepared (agenda and preparatory materials).
The invoices for the 2009 contribution fees had been prepared and submitted to the members. Contracts were compiled for the two new formal member of SRNWP: Bulgaria and Czech Republic. The contracts were exchanged and signed. The remaining missing contributions from 2008 had been completed (from Cyprus and Italy).
The Programme Manager attended several meetings on behalf of the programme, which are as follows:
Some further steps were done as regards the cooperation with the university/academia researchers. A COST proposal (initiated by the university people about building stronger cooperation with the "operational" NWP experts including also links with climate modelling) submitted, but refused last year is decided to be updated. A proposal for the European Science Foundation is also under preparation (about mesoscale predictability), which is initiated by several university expert together with the WWRP MWFR (WMO World Weather Research Programme Mesoscale Weather Forecasting Research) group.

The next important event of the programme is the SRNWP Advisory Committee meeting to be held in Zurich at 2-3 April. Important discussions are anticipated beside the "usual" SRNWP issue regarding the contribution of SRNWP towards the EUMETNET Strategy and to the possible structure optimisation. Furthermore discussions will be realised about the links between SRNWP and the university/academia researchers. Later in the year the most important event of the programme will be the annual EWGLAM/SRNWP meeting to be organised in Greece (28 September - 1 October, 2009).
